Dental Braces in Clermont-Ferrand | Metal & Ceramic

The OrthoClermont practice of Dr François Normand, orthodontist in Clermont-Ferrand, offers traditional orthodontic braces. Multi-bracket appliances, commonly known as "braces", remain the most widely used and versatile orthodontic treatment. They can correct all types of malocclusion, from simple to highly complex cases.

How does it work?

Brackets (attachments) are bonded to the outer surface of each tooth. A metal wire (archwire) connects the brackets and applies gentle, continuous forces to move teeth progressively into their ideal position. The archwire is changed regularly throughout treatment to adjust the forces applied.

Available options

  • Metal brackets: The most traditional option. They are small, robust and highly effective. This is the most affordable solution.
  • Ceramic brackets: Tooth-coloured, they are far more discreet. They deliver the same results as metal brackets with improved aesthetics.
  • Self-ligating brackets: They do not require ligatures (small elastics) to hold the wire. Appointments are quicker and comfort is improved.

Advantages

  • The most versatile treatment: suitable for all cases
  • Precise and predictable results
  • Generally lower cost than other techniques
  • No special patient cooperation required (fixed appliance)
  • Effective for children, teenagers and adults

Points to consider

  • Visible appliance (except the more discreet ceramic option)
  • Thorough oral hygiene required
  • Avoid certain hard or sticky foods
  • Follow-up appointments every 4 to 8 weeks

Treatment duration

Duration ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on the complexity of the case. A personalised treatment plan is drawn up at the first consultation.
