We recommend a first visit around age 6 or 7. At OrthoClermont, Dr Normand carries out an early assessment to spot any jaw discrepancies or eruption issues while they're still easy to address. Treatment can begin at any age, but an early check-up helps us intervene at the right time.

It depends on the complexity of the case. Most treatments at OrthoClermont run between 12 and 24 months. Dr Normand puts together a personalised treatment plan at your first appointment, with a realistic timeframe tailored to your situation.

Having braces fitted is painless. You may feel some tenderness or pressure in the days following placement or an adjustment, but this usually settles quickly. Dr Normand and her team will give you practical advice to manage any initial discomfort.

We offer several options: traditional fixed braces (metal or ceramic brackets), lingual braces (bonded to the back of the teeth), clear aligners, functional appliances for growing children, orthopaedic devices and orthodontic mini-screws. Dr Normand will recommend the best option for your individual needs.

Good oral hygiene is key throughout treatment: brush after every meal, use interdental brushes or floss, and steer clear of hard or sticky foods. We provide detailed care instructions when your braces are fitted.

Absolutely. Many of our adult patients come to OrthoClermont to straighten their teeth or correct a functional issue. Discreet options such as clear aligners or lingual braces are often a popular choice.

Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of appliance and how treatment is progressing. At each visit, Dr Normand adjusts the appliance and checks tooth movement.

Dr Alexandra Normand's practice is at 8 rue Ernest Renan in Clermont-Ferrand, a short walk from Place de Jaude and easily reachable by tram. We welcome patients from Clermont-Ferrand and the surrounding towns: Chamalières, Royat, Beaumont, Ceyrat and Aubière.

French social security covers orthodontic treatment started before the patient's 16th birthday, subject to prior approval. OrthoClermont helps families with the paperwork. For adult patients, some supplementary insurance plans offer partial reimbursement. A detailed estimate is always provided before treatment begins.
